FAQs

1. What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture needles are metallic and hair-thin. They are single-packed and pre-sterilised. People feel no, or minimal pain when the needles are being inserted. Once the needle is inserted to the proper depth, people will feel the needle sensation — a kind of heaviness or numbness; it may feel like water flowing round the point.
Acupuncture treatment is based on Meridians and Acupoints theory. Acupuncture needles have to be inserted at the particular Acupoints, using specific manipulations unique to each patient. The sensation can be quite different from person to person, even if the needles are inserted at the same point.

 2. What is cupping?
Special cups are sucked on the selected points using negative pressure, to ease away blood stagnation, and dispel dampness and coldness.

3. What is Moxa?
A moxa cone or stick, made of herbs, is ignited to warm the meridian and acupoint to help promote qi-blood flow and eliminate pathogens.

4. What is Tuina?
It is a therapeutic massage along the meridians and acupoints and can also involve traction.

5. How does acupuncture work?
It can stimulate Acupoints, regulate meridian-qi, promote qi-blood flow, readjust Yin and Yang, and rebuild the body’s balance.

6. Are there any side effects of acupuncture treatment?
Acupuncture treatment is safe and does not have any adverse effects if operated properly.

7. Does ACC approve acupuncture treatments?
